yesterday was a wonderful day...

Yesterday was a wonderful day! I woke up early in the morning and had a little jog while Jenny B. and Sharon were playing tennis. After we got back and showered, Jenny B. saw Chris in the Connor/Winston kitchen when she was studying (btw, he lives in Winston, 3rd floor, it's almost like he lives on the same floor as me since Connor and Winston are connected by a pavilion, except we need flex pass to get to each other's side). So, of course, he came by and we got free food from Connor Field day, I watched him play volleyball (my scab/scar on my foot haven't completely healed, so I declined the sand and the volleyball) and then went to the library to study. I actually got a lot of stuff done, hehe, pleasantly surprised.
So yes, we had our date, we went to a Chinese restaurant in Carrboro (he has a car) and then to South Pt to watch Hero. We talked and talked, about our families, friends, and ourselves. He's from Matthews, went to East Meck, was a fellow IB'er, and his family is very diverse. His mom speaks Catonese but was raised in Cuba. His dad speaks Mandarin but was raised in Brazil. So his family is pretty Americanized and he speaks English and Spanish. It was really comfortable to talk to him, no awkward silences, thank goodness. We had two hrs to mingle around the mall b/t the dinner and the movie so we hung around Barnes and Nobles and just walked and talked some more and laughed some more and started holding hands... and held hands for the remainder of the night :-) Holding hands gave me chills down the spine, but it's an excited and nervous and happy type of chill. The movie was awesome. Although the story line was a bit tragic, the aesthetic appeal was superb. The colors schemes of the costumes, the slow motion of rain drops accompanied by the string of Zhen (type of Chinese instrument) and martial arts was great. Then we went back to his room and watched Monster's Inc. b/c he hasn't seen it and it's one of my favorite movies. We cuddled under the blanket. Then we hugged goodnight and I came back to the room to be interrogated by my awesome roomie. So that was basically the motion of my day.
The little things that made my day great was just how kind he is and how comfortable I felt. I broke my bookbag last Thurs. and he offered to take me to Wally world to buy one and always opening doors and offered to give me his shirt when I was cold and held my books. Of course, he didn't have to do any of that and I didn't ask him to, but it was sweet of him to do so anyway. In response to Michael's earlier comment about not telling him that I had a date. Well, I didn't even met Chris when I chatted briefly with TGM. We met at the CUSA interest meeting and he hung around to go to a very late dinner at McAlister's with me and a bunch of other people. He asked me out at the end of the night and I gave him my number and so we had our date yesterday. So yeah, I've known him for a little over a day. I surprised myself too that I've been so open and comfortable with him. It feels as though we've been friends for a while already, not a stranger whom you've met just a day ago. I'm most definitely not "settling" as in lowering my standards. It's just that we like each other so other things, like hand holding and going on dates, came naturally. Since I'm approaching this relationship thing quite tentatively, this is about all that I'm going to write about him on lj, plus little updates here and there. If you want to know more, about whatever, you can ask me in person. Sometimes I think that writing all this on lj is so impersonal. I would rather have a good conversation with any of you than to write a ton of lovey-dovey things here.

p.s. I'm really sorry to blow off TGM and Jenny Z. and others yesterday when I agreed earlier in the week to spend the day together. I promise that it won't happen again. I definitely need to make time for my friends, no matter what (or who) happens.

So was your date on Friday or Saturday night, sorry I'm not very good with timing. I saw Hero Friday night, I enjoyed it very much and the instrument, you called it a Zhen? was beautiful, it reminded me of YoYo Ma's cello in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I wish I had someone who went with me, but it was my treat for myself...long story read my LJ later ;)
